📔 BUILD DIARY

We're building in the open. Every week, a quick update on what's new, what's working, and what we're wrestling with.

Week of 16 July 2026

Water leaks, small wins, and keeping momentum

Going to keep this one short and real: it was a slow week. We had a water leak at the house, which meant contractors, insurance calls, and a solid chunk of the week spent dealing with things that have absolutely nothing to do with building an app. That's the reality of being a founder who also has a life — sometimes the life part takes over, and the best you can do is keep things ticking over.

But there were a couple of bright spots worth sharing.

I officially joined MicroConf Connect — Rob Walling's SaaS community for founders. It's been really interesting reading through the conversations, seeing what other people are building, the challenges they're facing, and how they're thinking about growth. It's early days, but already feeling like a valuable space to be part of. There's something grounding about being in a room (even a virtual one) with people who are a few steps ahead of you on the same path.

And despite the chaos, I'm still working through the From Impossible to Inevitable audiobook — being able to listen while driving and doing household tasks has been great. Even when the build slows down, at least the upskilling doesn't have to.

Not every week is going to be a feature launch or a big breakthrough. Some weeks are about keeping the momentum going, even when life throws a curveball. Those weeks count too.
